5 Self-Care Tips for the Summer

For many of us, summer is the well-deserved break we’ve been waiting for. Moving away from busy schedules and unhealthy lifestyles, many are looking for ways to fix their bad habits. Here are five self-care tips that will help make your summer a time of relaxation and reconstruction.

  1. Schedule a Pamper Day

Sometimes our lives get so busy that we forget to really take some time to relax. With much more time in the summer to take a break, consider scheduling a pamper day for yourself. Put on some comfortable clothes and go through your skincare routine slowly while listening to music. Do whatever else allows you to really relax, and of course, get a good night’s sleep.

  1. Stay Hydrated

If you haven’t been drinking enough water lately, it’s time to put aside the soft drinks and boba. A refreshing bottle of water is bound to help combat the summer heat and contribute positively to your health. Consider adding fruits and vegetables such as lemons, cucumbers, strawberries, limes, or mint leaves to make detox water–which is not only healthy but also extra tasty.

  1. Social Media Declutter

Unfortunately, we all know how toxic social media can be, but it has become an integral part of most of our lives. Summer is arguably the best time to perform a social media declutter: delete unnecessary photos or videos, unfollow people you no longer want to follow, get rid of any apps you no longer use that simply take up storage…anything that makes your phone less cluttered and allows you to spend more quality time with technology.

  1. Socialize with Friends and Family

Take this opportunity during the summer to meet with your friends in real life— after all, it just isn’t the same behind a phone screen. That, however, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reach out to those who live far away through the internet. Plan to spend some quality time with the people you care about, whether that be in person or online.

  1. Smile

Last, but definitely not least, do whatever makes you smile. After all, what makes someone happy varies from person to person, and what works for one person may not work for another. If you want to spend every day with others, then go for it. But if you want to focus on yourself, that’s okay, too. Summer is a time of rediscovering yourself and what you hold close to your heart; it’s a time of adventure and transformation.
