The Wrath and The Dawn Book Review

The Wrath and The Dawn, written by Renée Ahdieh, is a wonderful retelling of A Thousand and One Nights. This gripping and exciting story narrates the life of Shahrzad, a young sixteen-year-old girl who falls victim to Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan who marries women every night and kills them the next morning. However, Shahrzad finds a way to stay alive, and night after night she tells Khalid stories that leave him wanting more. As the days pass, she discovers more about this young King and his troubled past, leaving the readers wanting more.

There are many retellings of this interesting tale, including A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston which, along with The Wrath and Dawn, is thrilling, romantic, and definitely a page turner.
