Don’t Sweat It

I used to be an athlete. One that worked out 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. I’ve done almost every exercise listed on the Internet: strength training, cardio, HIIT, mind training, etc. I’ve done it all. To put it very simply, I pushed my body to the max. My body had been beaten from all the strenuous exercise, so I had to find another way to move my body.

The initial switch from hardcore exercise to a more light lifestyle was mentally difficult, but a year into my more relaxed lifestyle, I am so grateful and still very healthy!

Here are my favorite exercises that anyone can do:

Walking – In my opinion, walking is so underrated! This is the most effective and healthy form of exercise, and the best part about walking is that it’s free! I like to take a 20-40 minute walk around my neighborhood or by the beach every day. It’s a great way to stay in shape, and it’s scientifically proven to be a mental health booster!

Stretching/Yoga – I love to go in my backyard and do some light stretching and yoga in the morning, right after my cup of tea. My once painful joints are pain-free now, and I just love the feeling of relaxing my muscles while taking in the fresh morning air.

Dancing – Some people may not consider this a form of exercise, but I can assure you that it’s an amazing workout! Not only is it fun, but it’s also a full-body workout! If you don’t like the conventional exercises, this one’s definitely for you. You won’t even feel like you’ve worked out.

Exercising doesn’t have to be tiring and boring. It can be fun, calming, and effective. Best of all, you don’t need a gym membership or expensive equipment to do any of these exercises listed above. The important part is that you’re not just sitting around on your phone. Go out and be active!
