Review: Sacred Hearts Club

In an era of electronic music, it is becoming more and more difficult for bands to establish unique sounds, but when it comes to Foster the People’s “Sacred Hearts Club,” there comes a major exception.

This exception stems from the fact that Foster the People are exceptional poets, and are even more exceptional musicians; musically they fit in with the best while lyrically they stand out. Their music keeps the conversation focused on big topics like eternity, regret and emotional vacancy. And their lyrics manage to accomplish this focus from such a heightened state of clarity and with such a tremendous, confident wisdom that “I wish that I could blink and turn all [their] words into ice cubes so I could fill my drink.”

“Sacred Hearts Club” brings Foster the People one wide stride closer to their rightful position in what will be the canon of modern rock royalty.
