Review: Daredevil

Following the feverish, fan-filled craze that swept through America this year with the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, it’s easy to forget that Marvel has had its fair share of super heroes outside the Avengers franchise. So I would like to discuss a somewhat-forgotten hero: Daredevil.

Despite not being as popular as some of Marvel’s more mainstream productions, Daredevil stands to be one of the company’s more mature and memorable creations. The show follows Matt Murdock, defense attorney by day and crime-fighting vigilante by night; Murdock beats baddies, hunts drug lords, and saves innocent civilians long into the night–even if that sometimes means he ends up waking up bloodied and in a dumpster.

Possessing no unearthly powers, Murdock relies on his extraordinary fighting abilities. However, this is no easy feat, as he is completely blind. A true daredevil, Murdock relies totally on his heightened senses of smell, sound, and touch to make his city a safer place.

The show is dark, but also unforgettably good. With a tragic hero, misunderstood villain, and enough mood lighting to last you a lifetime, Daredevil transcends the classic feel good Marvel movie and forces its viewers to think as well as continuing watching.

If you’re looking for something deeper than your average Superman, Daredevil will not fail you. Plus, Matt Murdock looks pretty good shirtless.
