Illegal Drip

Recently, the people living in the United States have been experiencing the ability to partake in a huge historical movement. There have been protests held nationwide for people to take their stance in uniting to support the Black Lives Matter movement. After these protests start to begin decreasing in frequency, it is important to continue taking action in supporting these momentous acts towards progression and there are multiple ways to do so. One of my favorite ways is by supporting businesses that are owned by immigrants or minorities.

For example, I was recently enlightened about the clothing brand called Illegal Drip. This company ran by undocumented immigrants unites and produces clothing collections while blending art, fashion, and advocacy. They stand firmly on the belief that “legality is a power play” as “no human being is illegal on stolen land.” When I first read this incredibly powerful statement I was hooked on what else they had to offer. After pursuing their different collections including “Life in Illegal,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Covid-19” (which was dedicated to the pandemic), I was pleased to see that their clothing was taking action. Not only are they ethically sourcing their materials, but they are empowering those who are not given a platform to succeed in this country, all while using the clothing as an instrument to call others to action. This is the type of company that should be supported, especially right now as we are all looking for ways to come together and find peace in progression.
