De-Stress with Some Classic Comedy: “The Office” and More…

As an avid binge-watcher, the new online school year has threatened to throw a wrench in my binge-watching plans. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that I can no longer find time to enjoy whatever series I happen to be watching at the time. One of the great things about streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and the many others is that we can watch whatever we want, whenever we want. We don’t have to interrupt our school schedule to watch a pre-scheduled show, we can just watch it after class or during a break.

Because each episode of a television show is usually twenty or forty minutes depending on the genre, it’s a good way to take a break as you can easily time your break by the length of the episode. Episodic series are especially good for this because each episode is typically one story that gets wrapped up by the end of the episode. This way, you don’t have to worry about cliffhangers forcing you to watch the next episode and the next just to find out what happens.

There are a lot of amazingly entertaining episodic series out there like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Psych, Rick and Morty, The Office, Monk, and many others. Watching an episode of a comedy where you know that the story will finish by the end of the episode is a great way to destress as well as enjoy a good and likely well-needed laugh. As the global pandemic continues to affect our lives and classes have been moved online, it can be good to take a break, relax, and enjoy a nice episodic comedy.
