An Idyllic Day in Franklin, Tennessee

Franklin, Tennessee is a relatively small town about thirty minutes south of Nashville via I-840; however, small does not mean boring. If I were to travel to Franklin for a day via the Nashville International Airport, I’d begin by checking in at the Best Western Franklin Inn for lower priced, clean accommodation before stopping at the First Watch on McEwen Drive for Brunch. First Watch is a easygoing spot for healthy and affordable breakfast and lunch; my personal favorite dish is the Chickichanga, their take on a chicken chimichanga.

After brunch, I’d continue to the downtown Franklin area. Here, there are many antique shops as well as the main street, which has brand-name stores, like Anthropologie, as well as restaurants and the Franklin Theater. I’d spend a few hours antiquing and shopping until I get hungry again, pick up a light lunch from Starbucks, and walk the mile or so to Pinkerton Park for a late-lunch picnic.

Finally, after I was fully relaxed from Pinkerton, I would head back into town to catch a matinee show at the Franklin Theater, an old-fashioned cinema that shows old and new movies alike, after which I would enjoy a dinner at Puckett’s, a restaurant just off Main Street that has live music and great southern cooking before heading back to the hotel for the night.
