Write to Release

There seems to be a stigma that self care only involves healthy skin, eating well, or working out. But the art of writing in a journal provides a whole other level of self care on its own. It is as simple as going to the bookstore, buying a journal, and opening it up to begin your journey of self care. To be able to sit down and put into words everything that happened during your day or throughout the week is the best feeling. Writing is a form of therapy that allows you to release your emotions and see how you truly feel about certain situations. The pages are a canvas where emotions, thoughts and feelings are painted, and the overall picture becomes clear!

Taking time to write in a notebook or type on your computer, including the highs and the lows, the good and the bad, can be an incredibly therapeutic experience. Being able to sit back down and re-read those moments and relive them is an incredibly fulfilling feeling. Self care is described as “the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s health.” So preserve those memories, write about your life, and let yourself be free and vulnerable in the safety of your journal.
