Ways to Manage Your Time Efficiently

I’m a busy person. I just function better when I have lots of things to do. However, I still have trouble managing my time on occasion. Here are a few tips that help me correct this and complete all the things I need to do.

1. Make a rough outline of your day.

Seriously, it doesn’t have to be pretty. Sometimes, if there are a lot of things I need to do, I’ll take a sticky note and write down what I’ll do when. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and I’m usually guestimating how long each task will take, but having it written down really helps. I’ll even include snack breaks and a shower if I need to.

2. Eliminate distractions.

Sometimes this means going to another room where it’s quieter and less busy. Other times, this means turning off my phone or telling someone to hold onto it until I get a few things done. That way, I won’t be tempted to waste time on social media.

3. Recognize when it’s too much.

As busy as I like to be, there are times when it’s just too much. You have to recognize when you’ve reached your limit and say “no.” It can be really hard to do if you love what you’re doing or feel like it’s your responsibility, but your health and well-being come first. Don’t forget that, and make sure to take care of yourself.
