The Power Of Lip Oils

Move over lipstick. Get lost lip gloss. Lip oils are in, and Rare Beauty is hopping on the trend. Here’s all you need to know:

Rare Beauty is Selena Gomez’s makeup brand. As an advocate for mental health, Gomez’s brand donates 1% of its annual sales to the Rare Impact Fund to “expand mental health services in underserved communities.”

Because of the company’s values, uniquely packaged products, and its creator, Rare Beauty has exploded on social media. From makeup influencers testing out the products to college students showing off their morning routine, the #rarebeauty has about 5.6 billion views on TikTok. It’s no surprise that people are talking about the brand’s newest product that was announced in late March: Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil

Rare Beauty describes their lip oil as an “innovative jelly that transforms into a lightweight oil” that’s “never sticky” and “hydrates and nourishes” your lips. Made with jojoba and sunflower seed oil, Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil comes in eight shades, with colors varying from warm rose to nude brown.

So what makes lip oil different from lipstick and lip gloss?

Unlike lipstick and lip gloss, lip oils are made from natural ingredients. Gisou describes lip oils’ consistency as a mix between a lip gloss and lip balm. Lip oils can be worn by themselves or layered on top of lipstick to provide more moisture.

Since Rare Beauty assures that their Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil “gently plumps” lips and leaves them tinted, their lip oil can fall more under the category of a lip tint.

Getting a hold of Rare Beauty’s lip oil has proven difficult. Because of its popularity, Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is completely sold out on Rare Beauty’s website. Sephora carries Rare Beauty, but the lip oils are also completely sold out online. Looking in person might be your best bet. If you see the shade you like and want to give it a try, grab it while you can!
