Summer Classics

Everyone knows that summer break is the time to catch up and binge all the classic TV
shows, movies and books that seem to be all the rage of the season. This summer seems to
feature Mamma Mia 2 and all of the Dancing Queen fanatics. Since the release of the wildly
popular Broadway musical, Mamma Mia fans have been dying for more. Producers listened and came out with a short and sweet movie in 2008, followed by its sequel exactly 10 years later. Fans, young and old, bombarded the theaters this July to see if it would live up to its high praise. Consensus: it sure did.

Another sequel that released this summer has been 15 years in the making, and it was
certainly worth the wait. Incredibles 2 is a new summer film that burst through the block buster
roof with fame. It is a family friendly movie that has dedicated fans knocking down the movie
theatre doors to fill the seats. What’s summer without a little romance? Netflix released a movie named “The Kissing Booth” for its teen subscribers. This cheesy, cute movie is perfect to both cry and laugh to on a rainy summer evening.

If you would rather let your imagination wander through words fluttering from pages,
indulging in a page-turning book is always a summer necessity. The best books to peruse for
pool or beach lounging are literary classics. Jane Austen’s “Emma” is my go to read. It involves romance, death, and comedy resulting in an all around astounding book.
You always want to read books and watch movies that leave you with a satisfied feeling,
and summer break is the perfect time to explore that. Whether you are binge watching Gilmore Girls, hitting the theatre for a heart-warming move, or burying your nose in a good book,
summer is the perfect time to relax and explore what’s popular.
