Staying Motivated at Home

With so many schools doing remote learning now, it’s a new environment for a lot of us to navigate. Although it can be more freeing and comfortable to do school at home, it can also be just as difficult to maintain the same schedules we had.The key is to stay motivated and connected with others to keep as much of the same energy and environment you had before. This way, you can continue putting your best effort into your work.

If I don’t have class in the mornings, I’ll let myself sleep in a little, but I am careful to not oversleep so that I can still be in my same routine and stay productive throughout the day. A lot of classes hold lectures at the same time as usual, but for those of you who might have recorded lectures, you should still devote that specific chunk of time to that class. Whether you do readings or take some notes, it’ll help you to not fall behind.

Another important factor is to stay in touch with your classmates and friends. I’ve been going on Zoom to call friends often and it’s a really nice way to get together and talk about what we’re up to just like we usually did at school. It’s a bit of a strange reality we live in right now, but making conscious efforts to keep as much of our routines as before. It’s the best way to continue moving forward and to not lose motivation as we finish the school year.
