Quick and Easy Overview of NFL Standings

With the second week of the NFL regular season already gone, there are already some clear leaders of the pack that have won both games they have played. That being said, a record isn’t everything when it comes to football; mediocre teams that play easier teams may seem artificially better than good teams that play great teams.

Records aren’t typically great early indicators, especially with so small a time frame for reference. Their counterparts, the power rankings, are typically more accurate representations because they are based on the averages of touchdowns let in and touchdowns made during past season and preseason games.

So, here are the top ten teams right now, first ranked by record and then by the so-called “power rankings”:

Record: Chiefs, Broncos, Dolphins, Bengals, Jaguars, Rams, Buccaneers(all 2-0-0), Packers, Vikings(both 1-0-1), Patriots(1-1-0)

Power Rankings: Jaguars(2-0-0), Rams(2-0-0), Chiefs(2-0-0), Packers(1-0-1), Vikings(1-0-1), Broncos(2-0-0), Patriots(1-1-0), Bengals(2-0-0), Buccaneers(2-0-0), Eagles(1-1-0)

Overall, the power rankings this year are much the same as they have been in years past; nevertheless, if the records prove the more accurate predictions for the rest of the season, there may be some interesting turns.
