Although some of the quarantine restrictions brought on by COVID-19 are beginning to lift, many people are still finding themselves at home for the majority of their day. One of the consequences to being confined to the house all day is that our living space also becomes our work and recreation space. As a result, it’s very easy for these areas to become cluttered and disorganized, and can unintentionally affect our mental wellness. One YouTuber who has inspired me to de-clutter my spaces (and my brain) is Ashley from the YouTube channel bestdressed.

As her channel name may imply, the majority of Ashley’s videos are fashion-focused. However, amidst her usual content of thrift-store flips and outfit construction 101 lessons, Ashley has also created a few videos to rally the interior designer in all of us. In her videos “Extreme Bedroom Makeover” and “Organizing My Hot Mess of a Closet,” Ashley details her methods for remodeling and re-arranging her spaces to be accessible and aesthetically pleasing, all with her comedic narration in the background. Her videos make it seem possible for even those less crafty among us to transform where we live and work.

Another bonus is that Ashley has continued to upload videos with some consistency during quarantine, and has even come out with quarantine-related content like: “Tips For Working/Studying From Home,” in which she gives advice on how to keep work, recreation, and living areas separate. Being stuck in one place for an extended time can get tiresome, but transforming the space around you can help fight that fatigue; learning from bestdressed is one of the best ways to begin!
