Jewelry Making- Clay Earrings

Recently I’ve seen that handmade clay earrings have been getting very popular. Small business owners are starting to sell them and many other stores have them in stock. I decided to make my own because I fell in love with not only the jewelry, but the activity as well. It’s fun to do this alone or with friends or family on a day you don’t have much to do.

To get what I needed to make the earrings, I went to Michaels and spent a total of $22.

What I got:

  • A set of two jewelry pliers
  • Jump rings
  • Earring back disks
  • Flat Post Earrings (or fishhook earring)
  • FIMO clay
  • Glue made for metals and jewelry (Aleene)

Once you have your supplies you begin rolling out and molding your clay into the shapes of your choosing. You can buy cutters made for clay earrings or use something you already have. Then, you bake the clay following the instructions on the package

and put it together using the pliers and glue. And, there you go, you have lovely, handmade earrings!

It was such a fun activity that I can’t wait to continue. I hope this article gave you an idea for a future activity for yourself or someone you know!

If you’d also like to help out a small business, I have been obsessed with Rainbowsclay. She’s made really nice earrings!
