Helping Hand from MyFitnessPal

Taking care of your body is one of the most important things you can do. We all do it in different ways, but there are some services available to us that can help everyone no matter what. When I want to keep track of my food intake and energy expenditure, I use one of my favorite apps—MyFitnessPal.

I admit that I have not used many fitness apps so I do not know how this one compares to the others, but I will say that MyFitnessPal is amazing. First, you make a goal for yourself—do you want to lose weight, gain weight, or stay the same? You put in the relevant information and it calculates how many calories you should consume on a daily basis, as well as specifics pertaining to your macro and micronutrient requirements.

MyFitnessPal then has you track your meals and water intake throughout the day. If you exercised, you can record your workout and get an idea of how many calories you burned. You can even set up the app to count your steps using your phone or smartwatch to get an even more accurate measurement of your daily activity level. The combined data allows the app to give you a prediction of your weight in five weeks.

Not to mention, these are all features included with a free MyFitnessPal account. I have not paid for the premium version, but it promises more relevant information about nutrition, personalized coaching, specific meals and recipes, and plenty more useful features. Whatever your reason for paying attention to your body’s health, see what help MyFitnessPal has to offer.
