On March 20th of 2020, Nintendo came out with a new game called Animal Crossing New Horizons for the Switch. In a year this game reached new records for the company. It was one of the most successful games they had ever released; people couldn’t stop buying it. I was someone who got a Switch just to play Animal Crossing, as I’m not that much of a gamer. But I definitely got my money’s worth. I invested many hours in the game and it got me through quarantine. This happened to many people and is probably why the game ended up doing so well. Staying at home and having nothing to do prompted millions of people to invest in this game.
For those who don’t know, this game follows a person, in other words, you, as you leave your home and go on the adventure of a lifetime. You find yourself on a deserted island in which you have to fish, catch bugs, and pull weeds, along with many other things, to eventually make it your home. There are also animal villagers who live on your island, become your friends, and guide you through your journey. The game even has special events to celebrate different holidays, like the Fourth of July fireworks at the end of the summer, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and more.
Now, with life returning back to normal, it might be harder to justify spending so much time in a game. However, Nintendo is still updating and making new content for its users. If you’re interested in the game but are unsure of buying it, definitely go for it. Overall, this game promotes creativity and has created a wonderful community of people. If you purchase it, you won’t be disappointed!
