Food is Happiness

If there’s one way to bring people together, it’s with food! I love trying new foods and connecting to different cultures in that way. I found that experiencing different foods is the best way to travel without actually traveling- saving money while wowing my tastebuds!

Recently, I have been trying new restaurants in Los Angeles, and here are my current favorites:

Jun Won – Korean Food! They start out by giving you an assortment of complimentary “banchans” or appetizers that are eaten with your meal. I personally loved their kimchi tofu soup.

Republique – French cuisine! They’re more pricey, but the food is 100% worth it! In the morning, they have fresh baked French pastries. I ordered a Kouign Amann and a french press coffee. The flaky, buttery pastry was a taste of heaven. For dinner, I have had their arugula casarecce and some of my friend’s short ribs. Both were outstanding in flavor.

Smoke’s Poutinerie – O’ Canada! When you think Canada, you think maple syrup and poutine! Nothing beats fries loaded with gravy and curds on a day out. They have the traditional poutine, but they also have many more poutine creations to try! Go get yourself a taste of Canada.

Anwar’s Kitchen – Middle Eastern! They are known to have very authentic middle eastern food, so I gave them a try. One word: Powerful. Their flavors were vibrant and strong. The garlic in the hummus and the olive oil marinated meats were extravagant. I definitely had to order another serving of hummus for myself!

Kura Sushi – Japanese! This restaurant is a chain straight from Japan. I’ve been to one in Japan, and I’ve been to one here, and they’re identical. The sushi rice has a hint of rice vinegar, and the fish-to-rice ratio is perfect. They also have more Americanized sushi on their menu, but I can say with 100% confidence that their sushi is the closest to the ones you would get in Japan.

Go out and explore. Go try new restaurants and new cuisines. You’ll never know what you like unless you try!
