Although I usually purchase books from Barnes and Noble and other chain bookstores, I recently have been appreciating second-hand bookstores. A second-hand bookstore, or a used bookstore, consists of both used and out-of-print books.
According to a blog published on the 2A Thrift Superstore website, the main reason people shop at used bookstores is because it’s a great way to save money. Most of the books at these stores are very good quality at affordable prices. For instance, I was able to purchase seven Jane Austen novels for less than $15. I was also able to purchase the third book in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, for only $1. Since they are at such a low price, it enables you to purchase more books than you would be able to at a major bookstore. That means you can read more!
Additionally, I have noticed myself branching out to more genres through shopping at second-hand bookshops. At more popular bookstores such as Barnes and Noble, I find myself immediately going to the fantasy and romance section to find books. However, at used bookstores, I enjoy searching through the aisles of books and trying new genres. Especially at the low price, it is easier to try different genres and books.
There are many second-hand bookstores in the Orange County area. My favorite is Dollar Plus Bookshop in Orange. Some other good bookstores are One Read Books, Gatsby Books, and Bookman.
