Diversity in Literature

Hey everyone! Today I’d like to talk about diversity in literature. Diversity has always been something important to me and in my life. I’ve grown up learning about many different cultures and places by reading literature from all over the world. In turn, I cherish all different kinds of cultures and people, and celebrate their differences. Having diversity is what makes our world special and interesting.

To learn more about everyone around us, I think it is beneficial to incorporate diversity in literature, whether that be in school or an at home hobby. The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, Wonder by RJ Palacio, The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are great books that everyone should read in school or in their spare time. Reading books that represent differences among individuals help us understand and change our attitude towards them.

I hope you pick any of these books up if you haven’t already read them! I also hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during these times.
