Being Mindful

We are all reeling in different ways from this current pandemic. We are all struggling to find our place in this new world situation. We are all stressed about what this means for now and the future—however, we cannot get through this if we are constantly worrying, so try to find some light in this darkness.

Be mindful of what you have. If you have steady food, water, and shelter, be grateful for that fact. If you are quarantined with friends or family, remember that others might not be and take advantage of the company. If your school was shut down and your plans for the rest of the semester were ruined, be grateful that they listened to the signs and took the necessary steps before more people became infected and further spread the disease. Recognize that others around you are struggling as well, and try to find ways to make things easier for them.

Whatever your situation is, whenever you feel angry or upset, think of something that makes you happy. Think of something you are truly lucky and grateful to have and remember that there are many ways this could be worse. Remember that there is good in this world and eventually this will all be over. Until then, be patient and appreciate what you have been given.
