Staying Fit When Cold Hits

During the cooler months, we tend to enjoy the comfort of our homes. Sometimes we even enjoy the relaxation so much that we forget to stay active! Here a couple of ways you can stay fit when the cold starts to hit.

1. Skiing and Snowboarding

Time to hit the slopes! Cruising downhill is an amazing way to get your adrenaline pumping and blood flowing. I personally think skiing and boarding are more than just sports–they’re lifestyles! These activities require patience, balance, and courage to conquer the course of nature.

2. Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is an up-and-coming sport that I encourage everyone to try. It is a unique way to build strength, flexibility, and sharpen your instincts. Climbing is like a real-life puzzle–you have to think on your feet and make the right choices at the right time. This sport is also very social. Once you develop the right skills, you can find a climbing buddy who will be there with you every step of the way.

3. Yoga

This ancient practice can heal both your mind and body. Yoga takes dedication to learn, but the benefits reaped are life-changing. Yoga can be done anywhere, anytime, as long as you have a yoga mat and an open mind. After my first yoga class, I realized I am not as strong as I thought. But the more I practiced, the more powerful I felt, mentally and physically. Even doing a few minutes of yoga each week can make a big difference in your mood, sleep, and general well-being.

These are just a few ways to workout in the cool weather. There are plenty of other activities to try, such as dancing, swimming, skating, and more. This fall and winter, get out of your comfort zone and try something new! I promise you won’t regret it.
