Get Glowy, Not Sweaty

Summer is in full swing now and, while we all love the minimal-makeup, “just got back from the beach” look, most of us know all too well the struggle of finding that balance between looking like we just ran three miles and looking straight out of a Cosmopolitan magazine. If all else fails: fake it ‘til you make it; in this case, find a good highlighter and stick to it.

For more oily skin types, toners are lifesavers. Depending on just how oily your skin is, using a toner anywhere from three times a week to twice a day can work magic for both the appearance and pH of skin as well as diminish the appearance of pores. Also, carrying blotting sheets for those times when your skin gets a little too glowy can help enormously.

For combination or drier skin types, toners and blotting papers are still useful, but by no means need to be used as frequently. Although it sounds contradictory, moisturizing at night can actually help with staying more matte rather than shiny because it makes sure your skin is always hydrated, meaning it appears dewy and youthful for longer. Combination skin types obviously can combine these tips and apply them to the areas that are drier and more oily, respectively. Lastly, not to be repetitive of just about every skincare article on the internet, but I feel obligated to say it: Drinking water really does help skin look glowy and young in every aspect.
