Vacation Essentials

As the summer heat keeps on powering through, a vacation is always a good idea! I am currently in Sun Valley Idaho with my boyfriend and his family! With time to kill and sights to see, I will tell you all of the fun things to do when you are planning a woodsy vacation.

First things first, sunscreen! Even though you may not be lounging on a beach or sitting by a pool, you are still outside. Whether you are hiking or bike riding, make sure to apply sunscreen at least fifteen minutes before your outdoor activity. Continue to apply it throughout the day. Considering how powerful the UV rays are this year, you want to be protected from the sun! No one wants a sunburn that will ruin your vacation and your skin, right? My favorite brand is called “EltaMD.” It goes on so smoothly and is free from any chemicals that may damage your skin. In addition, it never hurts to spray some bug spray on the areas of your skin that aren’t covered by your clothing. Behind the neck, arms, legs and ankles are always spots most mosquitos love.

Next stop on the list for enjoying your vacation is to simply relax. Many people constantly think that they need to be doing something every second, but sometimes just sitting outdoors with a glass of lemonade in your hand is the answer. There is nothing more peaceful that just listening to the nature’s noises of birds and wind. Relaxing on vacation is vital, especially if you need a little R&R after a long week. Self care is so important these days and I highly recommend taking at least an hour everyday to just be present in the outdoors when you are vacationing.

Lastly, make sure you take pictures! Pictures are a great way to look back on a trip. I know I love reminiscing fun vacation spots that my family and I have visited. Pictures can always be a fun activity when you are bored. Grab your phone or camera and walk around while taking cool photos of plants, trees, or even your friends and family.

Now, go outside and enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility of vacationing in the summertime. But make sure you don’t forget your sunscreen, bug spray, self care time, and a camera!
