Staying Connected While Staying Home

No matter whether you are an extrovert or an introvert, this current crisis has affected all of us and made things difficult. If you are an extrovert like me, however, the quarantine has probably hit you hard. Here are a few suggestions to stay connected with all the people you wish you could see in person:

  1. Video chat. It is a classic, and a good one. Even just seeing your friends’ faces can cheer you up, and it is nice to stay updated on their lives. Even though there may not be much happening, life is still going on, and you want to make sure that your friends know you are there for them and that they are there for you.
  2. Host virtual game/party nights. Find a card game or something else like charades that you can all play without being there in person. Follow a Bob Ross or makeup tutorial through FaceTime. Have cake decorating competitions to see who can make theirs the prettiest.
  3. Have a meal train. If you are using your free time to cook or bake and find yourself with more food than you can eat, and you have friends in the area, bring them some homemade food and encourage others to do the same. Stay six feet apart, of course, but just standing in someone’s driveway and chatting for a bit will make you feel so much better. Every time I have done this, it instantly puts me in a better mood.

We all need someone or something to take our minds off of the harder things in life, especially in a time like this. Do not forget your friends. Just imagine how happy you will be when this is all over and you can see them in person again. Until then, take advantage of every opportunity you can to stay connected.
