Foundation and Sunscreen Recommendations

Living in a sunny place, I have found myself eternally grateful to foundation with sunscreen inside it. My favorite one is M.A.C.’s C+Coral Grass BB Cream.

Though not technically a foundation, this product allows coverage with the added benefits of color correction. It can be applied both lightly or heavily making it perfect for different situations. The cream does not dry up my skin or cake up too much either. However, there are controversies around this product as the color range is rather poor and it doesn’t come in darker colors.

As someone who does not tan but rather burns, the 30 SPF also comes in handy during the day.

Unfortunately, 30 SPF is not always enough to protect me from the sun. On days when I know I am going to be outside and therefore require extra protection, I put sunscreen on underneath my foundation.I have an odd intolerance to certain sunscreen brands where the cream will make my skin itch, however, I have found Neutrogena to work fine. I use their Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch (Broad Spectrum SPF 55) for my everyday or their Beach Defense line when at the beach.

Though harder to find in the United-States and more expensive, my ultimate favorite sunscreen is from La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique.

Though it needs re-applying if you are in the sun for several hours, I have found this cream to protect my skin very well and I don’t tan, I just burn. I also find it easy to spread and rub in.

Recently I have also discovered a spray-on sunscreen that works for me from Coola. Though also more expensive, Coola’s Classic Body Organic Sunscreen Spray SPF 50 comes in both fragrance-free and Guava Mango.I have the scented version and love the smell. This spray settles fast and does not need to be rubbed in. In addition, the brand is environmentally friendly, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Hopefully, now you have all the tools to choose your sunscreen and keep your skin healthy!
