College Tips from a Graduate

Hey readers! Today I’d like to share some tips for incoming and current college students. I graduated college in May and it still makes me sad; it’s going to feel strange not going back in August. The craziest part is how quickly it all went by, so my best piece of advice for any college student is to live in the moment. Even if you’re having a rough day or you wake up dreading the idea of sitting in class, walk in with a smile. Remind yourself that one day you’ll graduate and miss it. I find that I’ll often think about the future, whether it be an hour, a few days, or months from today—I’ll focus on what’s next instead of right now. You’ll regret that in the future, so just enjoy the present.

I also encourage everyone to put themselves out there. That’s probably something you’ve heard many times, but it’s important. I joined a sorority even though I knew nothing about them. I was also shy when meeting new people, but the entire Rush experience changed me for the better, and the years I spent in my sorority made me more confident. I encourage everyone to push themselves to do things that might scare them, whether it be joining a sorority, a fraternity, or a club.

Enjoy the next few years of your experience. Do what makes you comfortable and have fun!
