Martin Coffeehouse: Your Cup of Inspiration

The up and coming city of Nashville, Tenn. is consistently expanding, and the new, hip hangout spots seem to be coffee shops. Since caffeine runs in my blood, I am always on the prowl for quality, hole in the wall coffeehouses. Throughout my search I have discovered some of the worst coffee known to man, as well as the most delicious cups, which also happen to serve an important purpose.

In a small town west of Nashville, there is a quaint, little shop that has dedicated its service to the children in the third world country Nepal. Their mission statement reads: “To welcome, serve, and inspire our local community by offering organic, fair trade coffee with a global purpose.”

Dedicated to international humanitarian programs, Martin Coffeehouse donates 10 cents of every cup to building libraries in Nepal and supplying them with books. This amazing service is then accompanied by baristas who offer every customer a warm welcome with their fresh brew. They even had genuine conversations and smiles to hand out. The coffeehouse was well populated, proving that the business is making libraries a reality for the Nepalese children.

If their selfless mission isn’t enough to drag customers back in for more, their lattés definitely are. The atmosphere of the shop mixed with the perfect brew of fresh coffee beans keeps the business running.

Why go to a plain, decent coffee shop when you could go to one that is taking strides towards bettering the world. And if their coffee tastes good, it’s a plus!
