Summer is always the perfect time to catch up on favorite hobbies, travel, and watch lots of TV! During the summer, I always seem to find myself gravitating back toward the same few shows that I’ve watched multiple times through.

Binge-watching tv shows grew in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic when everyone was bored at home. It was at this point that people began to rewatch a lot of their favorite movies and TV shows to rediscover those nostalgic, feel-good moments.

Sitcoms and dramas are my favorite genres to watch on Netflix. Whether you’re a fan of those genres or something else, these five shows below can serve as a stepping stone for you to jump into your official summer show binge session!

1. New Girl

The premise of New Girl is about a girl, Jess, who moves into a loft with three single guys after going through a rough breakup. During the show, each episode takes the audience on a day-to-day journey of Jess and the rest of the characters’ lives. This is a must-watch for you if you love rom-coms and relatable characters!

2. The Good Place

The Good Place is another one of my favorite comedy series to binge-watch on Netflix all day. The witty humor and fantasy aspect of the show make it so thrilling to watch, and trust me, it never gets boring in ‘the good place.’

3. Young and Hungry

Another hilarious sitcom worth watching over and over again is Young and Hungry, a comedy series that follows a young food blogger, Gabi, as she sets off to work as a personal chef for wealthy entrepreneur, Josh Kaminski. This show will keep you on your toes!

4. The Circle

The Circle is both a game show and a reality TV show wrapped into one. The Circle invites contestants on the show to become a top influencer and win $100,000. What makes this show even more interesting is that you have the option of playing as yourself or a catfish. There are four seasons so far and hopefully more to come!

5. Lucifer

Lucifer is in my top 10 favorite TV shows of all time! The storyline of the show follows Lucifer, the Lord of Hell, as he moves to Los Angeles to start a new life. Trust me, Lucifer is a captivating TV show that may just make you fall in love with the Devil yourself.

As I conclude my five favorite Netflix shows to binge-watch for this summer, just know that the list doesn’t end here. Netflix and other streaming platforms, such as Hulu or Disney +, have several shows that would be great to start off your binge session with. It’s time to get our TV binge on!
