The new PBS Masterpiece hit series Victoria and its two completed seasons have already captured the minds and hearts of various viewers with the period-appropriate dress, scenery, and accents as well as the rich plot and characters.

Although the show is—for the most part—historically accurate, it watches like a drama because of the intricate relationships between characters, the behind-the-scenes feel, and all the interesting subplots. The show follows the life of its namesake Queen Victoria, delving into her early years and her rise to the throne, as well as her life once she is settled into Buckingham Palace and the policies and changes she implements.

As well as showing the lives of the royals in Victorian England, Victoria offers a glimpse into the society and belief systems of the time and ultimately transports viewers into a completely different world from the world of today. The detail placed in the costuming and set shows off the extravagance of the Victorian Era perfectly and helps enthrall viewers in the story for each hour-long episode.

With season three set to premier in January 2019, the future of Victoria looks bright and is sure to delight all, regardless of interest in history.
