Skin care is an important part of daily routines, and taking care of your skin can feel like a daunting task. Here are some simple steps to include in your skincare routine to keep your skin glowing this summer.

  1. Moisturizing is a Must

The sun is hard on skin and it’s important to find a moisturizer that fits your skin type. Moisturizing can repair and protect skin from harsh environmental factors. Looking for moisturizers that are alcohol-free and pH balanced and moisturizing immediately after bathing are some easy tricks to add into a routine.

  1. Don’t Forget to Wear Sunscreen

A vital step in keeping skin healthy and glowing is to protect it from sun damage. It’s a no-brainer to wear sunscreen to the beach or lake, but it’s surprisingly easy to expose your skin to the harmful rays of the sun on an everyday basis. Wearing sunscreen can help protect your skin from sun damage and unwanted skin irritation, keeping your skin glowing all summer. An affordable go-to is Sun Bum SPF 50. This oil-free and water-resistant sunscreen can be found on Amazon and works great for different skin types without breaking the bank.

  1. Find The Best Cleanser For Your Skin

Summer’s heat and humidity can cause skin to get more oily. Opting for a gentle cleanser like CeraVe is great for dry or oily skin.

  1. Avoid Heavy Makeup

Less is more during the summer months. The heat and humidity already make it difficult for skin to breathe and adding a heavy layer of foundation to your skin won’t help. Instead, try tinted moisturizers to achieve the same glowing look without clogging your pores. One option is Milani’s Glow Hydrating Skin Tint. This product works well with my skin and is super affordable. The only downside is that the moisturizer doesn’t come in more shades. Another option is the IT Cosmetics CC Cream that has a 50 SPF.

  1. Exfoliate

Using scrub at least twice a week can help remove excess dirt and oil from your skin. When looking for something more natural, try some home recipes to exfoliate your skin. Mix together coffee and lemon juice as an exfoliator that brightens my skin. Mix one tablespoon of coffee and one tablespoon of lemon juice together. Apply the mixture to your face or body, leave for 10 minutes and then gently rinse. If you have sensitive skin, you can test the mixture on a small portion of your skin before fully applying.
