Tips for the Return to In-Person School

With many schools going back to in-person classes this year, you might be feeling a little wary. Most of us have gotten used to online schooling, so it seems wrong to go back to what was once normal. Here are a few tips to help you return to the classroom successfully.

  1. Start preparing early. If your school doesn’t start until the end of August or mid/late September, don’t wait until the last minute to get ready. Make sure you have all your books, folders, planners, devices, etc., early on. Take stock of what you have and get what you need to avoid being caught off guard later.
  2. Follow safety guidelines. Whatever your school/state/country requires you to do to protect yourself and those around you, do it. Most of us would like to stay in person, and that can’t happen if we don’t follow the protocols. If we all do our part, this may eventually be over.
  3. Be patient with yourself. Whatever your life situation is, the chances are high that it’ll take some time to get used to in-person schooling again. Don’t get upset with yourself if it takes a while—you’re definitely not alone. Be kind to yourself. You’ll find your rhythm soon enough.
