Tips for Finals Week

It’s the last couple weeks of fall semester or quarter, and finals are just around the corner. Finals are an excruciating process every student has to go through, but they can be manageable. Here are a couple tips to keep in mind as you get through the end of the semester.

Time Management

Time management is key during finals. Make a list of the finals you have to study for or complete and allot time for each class. It’s likely that since it’s the end of the semester, you will know how long it typically takes to study for an exam or complete a project in a certain class. If you plan out your timing, you give yourself steps to complete along the way, which will encourage you to keep moving forward.

Sleep

While your parents and teachers are probably already telling you this, sleep is vital. Not only is sleep necessary, but it prevents you from getting sick. Getting some sleep and missing potential study time is better than getting sick and not being able to study at all. Another bonus of sleeping is that you’ll be more alert, which will allow you to focus more than if you were dead-tired. And I know coffee exists, but it’s not nearly as beneficial as sleep.

Take a Breather

Make sure you take a breather every now and then. You will make it through finals. You will finish your work. If you need to take a break, plan some throughout your studying. You will need to take a break of some kind to let your brain rest.

Work Out

Getting some exercise is crucial, even if for just 15 minutes. Whether you go for a walk or do an intense workout, it’s a great way to release stress and in turn help you focus more on your work.

Good luck on finals!
