Tips for Eating Healthier

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be tasteless and boring. When people think of “healthy” food and meals, they automatically have a look of disgust, but healthy eating can actually be enjoyable and delicious! I consider myself a healthy eater, although I do love to indulge sometimes, but for the most part, I eat healthily and love it!

Here are my go-to tips for people starting a healthier diet:

Add Veggies – I like to add vegetables to my meals. Although I love the taste of vegetables, some people do not, but there’s a lot of different ways you can hide vegetables in your meals. Here are some examples:

  • Add spinach, cauliflower rice, and/or zucchini into your smoothies
  • Corn is loaded with vitamins and nutrients and adds sweetness to your dish
  • Cut up vegetables very small
  • Saute vegetables and use seasoning
  • Vegetables and dip are always a great snack too!

Add color to your plate – A good rule is to have a variety of colors on your plate! Try to have at least three different colors. This ensures that you’re getting a variety of vitamins and nutrients.

Always have protein with your meal – Make sure you have at least 1 protein source at each meal. Protein is vital for proper bodily functions, metabolism, and overall weight maintenance.

Never skip a meal – Rule of thumb! Eating less isn’t healthier. Your metabolism will slow down the more you restrict, and a slowed metabolism is not healthy! Secondly, the more you restrict, the more you’re likely going to binge on unhealthier foods later on in the day. Make sure you eat at least 3 solid meals with variety.

Make healthy eating fun and enjoyable! There are a lot of healthy eating recipes and cookbooks available online, so go inspire yourself with some great ideas!
