Tips for a Great Beach Day

Summer is in the air! The sun is out and the temperatures are rising. You know what that means? It’s time to hit the beach with your friends and family.

The beach is such a relaxing and fun way to get fresh air, sun kissed freckles, and a jump in the water to swim. I have always loved going to the beach in a cute bikini and a hat. Now, it is vital to remember to bring a sunscreen with an SPF higher than 30. The sun’s rays are strong, therefore, you need to make sure you reapply a sunscreen in order for you to not get burned. My favorite sunscreen is called “Sun Bum.” It smells amazing and really protects me from getting a bad burn.

What should you bring to the beach? A large water bottle to refill, a small portable music player, or even a good book (if you want the beach to be a more relaxing vibe). Now, if you decided to play music, be considerate to it’s lyrics and or how loud you play the songs. Make sure that you are not directly next to anyone because some people do not like hearing music when they are at the beach. I personally love it! I love playing beachy music from artists like Foster the People or The Dirty Heads; it really gets me in the beach and sunshine mood.

Bring a snack! I love bring grapes or veggies to the beach. I noticed that it does not attract as many seagulls as a bag of chips usually does. My friends and I go down to Windansea, in La Jolla, and there are so many seagulls flying around that it seems impossible to have a snack in peace. But, you are safe with fruits and other small snacks that are easy to pack and eat at the beach.

Staying hydrated at the beach is important considering the fact that the heat and sun can cause you to become dehydrated. In addition to that, a form of shade, whether it’s a hat or an umbrella, is helpful when you are in the sun for hours. I always bring my favorite Billabong hat and a pair of sunglasses when I go to the beach. There is nothing worse than having to squint your eyes the whole day or feel like you are getting too much sun.

The beach is the best place to relax, have fun, and enjoy the summertime sunshine. Always remember sunscreen, some music, a water bottle, and a snack. Now it’s time for me to pack a little bag with all of these essentials and cruise down to the water. Before I forget, have fun and enjoy a lovely day at the beach.
