Things I’m Grateful For

Every Thanksgiving we try to take time to think about what we’re grateful for. This year has certainly been difficult and it can be hard to recognize the things that truly make us happy, but that is all the more reason to look for them. Everyone deserves to be happy, and even the littlest of things can bring joy to our lives.

This year, I’m thankful for a few things:

  1. I had the privilege of going on a study abroad trip to London in January before the pandemic hit. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had, and I thank my lucky stars every day that I was able to do it.
  2. Entertainment. Humans have always looked for things to distract themselves from real life, and our means of doing so have only increased throughout history. I can’t articulate how much I appreciate being able to read a book or play music or watch a movie or TV show when I need a break from the world.
  3. My cat. She can be bratty sometimes, but I feel so loved whenever she decides to cuddle with me for hours on end. It lets me know that she feels safe with me, and that she loves me as much as I love her.

Take a moment to think about what you are grateful for. Maybe it’s a favorite food, a song, a place, a person. It can be whatever you need it to be. Hold on to it, and remember it when you need it.
