Ever since the third and final High School Musical movie, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, came out, fans have hoped and prayed for a sequel. Towards the end of 2019, Disney + blessed thousands of nostalgic fans with a revival. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series premiered on Disney + on November 8th and immediately hooked its viewers. Set in the one and only East High, this 10 episode series follows the drama department as they produce the first ever production of High School Musical: The Musical.
The show revolves around Nini, a girl who isn’t used to being in the spotlight, and Ricky, a boy who will do anything to win his girl back. These two characters capture the viewers’ hearts and have everyone rooting for their love almost instantly. Their chemistry on and off stage is undeniable.
Not only are the characters very charming, but the soundtrack for this series is remarkable. People who were not fans of the original HSM movies should watch this series for the music alone. Each member of the cast has phenomenal vocals and the songs get better and better as the show progresses.
Although Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez are absent, this series is still going to satisfy former HSM enthusiasts with its charming characters, captivating story-line, and killer soundtrack!
