The Plate You Can Carry

This time of year, it seems like everywhere you go, there’s a plate with you that you’re expected to carry. Although this can be exciting for the food lovers and makers, it can be very overwhelming for those like me, still learning through these college years to cook for themselves.

Because of this, and along with Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving, or any of the other holidays that are around the corner, I’ll be passing on to you an easy, nine-step recipe for a meal that I’ve noticed so many will love and compliment you for: Marshmallow sweet potatoes. It’s a special recipe to me, given to me by my best friend, and one that you can take with you as well. You’ll soon notice that you’ve probably already encountered most of this recipe before too, so it’s doable. But this one’s got a small twist to give it some sweetness and even more comfort… I hope you enjoy it!

What ingredients you’ll need:

  • 6 Sweet potatoes
  • 1 stick of Butter
  • ½ cup Milk
  • Mini Marshmallows

9 Simple Steps:

  1. Lay out all your ingredients

The first thing that you’ll do is prep your ingredients and put them all in front of you. Make sure that you take into account how many people you’ll be serving.

  1. Boil the potatoes

You’ll then need to fill up a pot of salted water until boiling. After this, you can add the sweet potatoes and let them boil until soft.

  1. Mash the potatoes

With a potato masher, mash the potatoes. If you don’t have a masher, you can still mash them with a fork.

  1. Add butter and milk

In the ingredients listed above, it says a certain amount, but you can apply whatever amount you want to get your desired texture. Stir until the butter is melted.

  1. Place mashed potatoes in a small casserole dish.
  1. Add marshmallows

The hidden gem to this dish is the mini marshmallows; spread a generous amount of them on top of the potatoes to give more flavor and a unique spin to your dish.
