The Perfect Nighttime Routine

For some time now, I’ve really loved treating nighttime as a cooldown period where I relax and try to stay as worry-free as possible. Because sleep is absolutely essential, it’s important to sleep for a good amount of time and also to get good sleep (relaxing, achieving REM sleep, etc).

Many people say that getting off your phone for at least thirty minutes before going to sleep is a good way to relax your brain. Being a night owl, sometimes going on my phone keeps me up later. So, what I’ve been doing is reading a book instead. It serves as a good distraction instead of being on my phone. Alongside that, it is less harmful to our eyes if you’re reading a physical book versus the blue light on the screen of your phone. Apart from benefiting your eyesight, reading before bed also helps us fall asleep faster (depending on how captivating the book is). When using our phones, it can be easy to continue to waste time on our social media apps instead of getting the sleep our body needs.

Because this past year continues to be hard and the pandemic is still among us, we need to take care of ourselves more than ever. I hope that you are taking the steps to not only let your body get its beauty sleep, but also treating yourself to pamper nights before bed because doing things that make you happy and comfortable are also key in life.
