2013 called– its most popular fandom is waking up from its slumber!

It seems the odds are in our favor as The Hunger Games readers everywhere are itching to see the new prequel to the series, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, hit theaters everywhere. The film is currently under production, but after the sneak peeks, cast reveals, and social media snippets, fire is certainly catching. Let’s take a look at the most recent updates regarding the highly anticipated movie!

  • Cast: With Rachel Zegler starring as Lucy Gray Baird alongside Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow, I’m already anticipating incredible chemistry (not to mention Zegler’s vast musical talent). Their fellow Panem residents include big names like Peter Dinklage and Viola Davis, as well as a large cast of new and up-and-coming actors. • Social Buzz: Rachel Zegler has taken to social media to share funny videos straight from the set. She even took over TikTok’s official account to take fans in front of and behind the camera, providing an inside scoop on the lives of the people who are sure to become the world’s new favorite actors. I must admit, I’ve examined every frame of her posts to see costumes, set designs, and scripts! • Veteran Crew: As a fan of the books and movies from the moment they entered the world, I fancy myself a bit of an expert on the franchise. One opinion I will stand behind is that the films improved when Francis Lawrence took the reins as director during Catching Fire. Thankfully, he is in charge once more and Suzanne Collins has even written the screenplay and donned the executive producer hat. This spells good news for the quality of production!

No official trailer beyond a small teaser has been released, but given the November 2023 release date, there may not be one for a little while yet. In the meantime, tributes– it might be a good time to reread the series and rewatch the four blockbusters we already have!
