The Best Way to Protect Yourself from the Sun

Summer is right around the corner, and with the warmer weather comes even hotter sunlight! To protect yourself against damaging UVA and UVB rays, it’s important to choose sun protection products that work! Read on to see some of my favorite picks!

Sunscreen for Face

The skin on your face is delicate and extra susceptible to dark spots or wrinkles. To protect your skin from sun damage, make sure to apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. The one pictured above is from Shiseido, and it’s one of my favorites because it’s extremely water-resistant and sweatproof, making it the perfect choice for the summer.

Sunscreen for Body

We also shouldn’t neglect our bodies. It’s important to apply sunscreen liberally to all parts of our body, especially if we are going to be exposed to the sun for a prolonged amount of time. For the body, I typically opt for a thicker consistency, to make sure it stays on for a longer period of time.

Sunscreen for Scalp

One area that often gets forgotten when it comes to sun protection is our scalps! I’ve definitely been the victim of scalp sunburn before, and it was not fun or pretty. For hard to reach areas like the scalp, I typically opt for an aerosol version of sunscreen.

Hat

Even with the help of both face sunscreen and aerosol sprays for the scalp, it never hurts to add a hat to your look for extra protection. I find that large sun hats are perfect for the summer, and the wide brim also helps to offer extra shade for your face.

Polarized Sunglasses

Sunglasses are also a must! The skin around our eyes is extra sensitive, so prolonged exposure to the sun can cause premature wrinkles and dark spots. Plus, UVA and UVB rays are extremely damaging to the eyes. It’s important to wear quality sunglasses to ensure you’re protecting your eyes accordingly. Brands like Ray-Ban offer a variety of frames that match just about every face shape.
