Technology is a Luxury

More often than not, technology can be perceived as addictive, harmful, and infuriating.
To older generations, who survived without technology, the people who depend upon laptops
and cell phones are seen as weaker and less intelligent. It is true that newer software does a lot for
humankind that they should know how to do themselves. However, if used in the appropriate
way, technology can be the greatest resource for the population.

Cell phones are the most useful and successful piece of technology. It is a mini
dictionary, laptop, and landline that can be carried around in a pocket. Cell phones allow us to
instantly keep up with daily international news, and connect us to people around the world.
The apps that can be accessed from cell phones are endless. While most are used as forms
of entertainment, there are a lot that can be used for educational purposes. Instant communication
is another advantage to cell phones. We can access ground-breaking news faster than ever
before.

Cell phones can also be used for documentation. Photography, used as a form of
expression, can now be accessed through cell phones. Users can quickly pull out their phone,
capture an image, and have that memory for the rest of their lives. iPhone’s lenses are becoming
just as advanced as professional Cannons or Nikons; soon cell phones will be the main source of
photographs due to convenience.

While negative connotations surround a lot of technology, it is a growing industry trying
to improve the lives of mankind. Living with technology is a luxury compared to certain places
in the world, and a benefit that should not be taken for granted.
