We don’t always think about the difference between diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This can slowly begin to negatively impact the community of employees because it’s easy to interpret these two terms as synonyms, even though that’s not the case. The first step to making positive, diverse changes is understanding this major difference and applying it.
Through researching about diversity and the importance of having diversity in the workplace, I learned that there are actually 4 different aspects of diversity: internal, external, organizational, and worldwide.
When discussing diversity, we often gravitate towards discussions about race, social injustices, and prejudice. However, gender diversity is also a major concern that plagues one of the most important places in our society—the workplace.
