Often we talk about issues of diversity in age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, but something I believe…
Discrimination and hate are everywhere, and they are deeply rooted in history.
I remember my mom telling me to make friends with everyone even if they look different from me the day before my first day of kindergarten. I think that all parents should tell their children this and enforce that it is okay if you look different from others around you.
For the past two semesters that I have been enrolled at Arizona State University, I’ve noticed a lot of students and professors using the opportunities of online/Zoom school to be more inclusive and acknowledging of others.
The world is a beautiful place when we learn to appreciate each other’s uniqueness and embrace diversity.
