I love to rewatch TV shows and movies. Ever since I was little, as soon as I finished a show…
I haven’t been able to stop talking about “The Queen’s Gambit”. It takes place in the 1960s and depicts a chess prodigy named Beth Harmon. Coming from very little, the main character is able to climb her way up and do something no woman has been able to do before, especially during this time period. The setting, plot, cinematic style, and way the story is told truly hooks the audience and inspires them…
“La Casa de Papel,” or Money Heist as it’s called in English, follows a band of criminals as they, following the plan of a criminal mastermind who goes by the name of “The Professor”, break into the Royal Mint of Spain, taking it and its inhabitants hostage, with the goal of printing 2.4 billion euros. Staying on the outside, The Professor deals with the police and any problems that arise that might put in peril the team that’s inside…
Television and film are providing us with ample entertainment as we go into another month of being stuck at home. Here are some movies and shows to look out for!
Fall has always been a fun season, and what can make it more fun than a great new TV show being released? Away was released on Netflix in September, a ten-episode science fiction drama following the story of American astronaut Emma Green, played by Hilary Swank, as she leads an international crew on a mission to Mars…
One of the great things about streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and the many others is that we can watch whatever we want, whenever we want. We don’t have to interrupt our school schedule to watch a pre-scheduled show, we can just watch it after class or during a break. As the global pandemic continues to affect our lives and classes have been moved online, it can be good to take a break, relax, and enjoy a nice episodic comedy…
As the show progresses, more and more real life issues are addressed. Topics such as parental pressure, finding your own path in life, and dealing with the loss of a loved one are explored. Last, but definitely not least, the strongest aspect of the show definitely would be the characters. It wouldn’t be far fetched to say that Prince Zuko practically has a cult following at this point…
Netflix has many great shows and today I’ll list some of my favorites…
Kipo tells the story of a world far in the future, when humanity has been forced underground by “mutes” – mutated, intelligent animals that have since taken over the surface world. Nature has reclaimed civilization, and humans live in small community “bunkers” just trying to survive. Kipo, a young girl from one such community, suddenly finds herself alone on the surface after being forced to flee her bunker when it is attacked by a massive, six-armed Mega Mute monkey.
The past months since the COVID-19 outbreak have felt monotonous for the majority: wake, eat, sleep, repeat. With days blending, losing track of time has become a shared experience. Through this all, one thing has kept me sane; one show, in particular, continues to keep my brain’s gears turning: BoJack Horseman.
