Supergirl: The Not So Super Show

Supergirl, which started as a genuine superhero show filled with lovable characters and compelling storylines, has fallen from grace with this past season.

A majority of the season depicts Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) fighting to defeat the all-powerful Reign (Odette Annable), with the help of some new and old allies. Because of this, season three promised an emphasis on powerful women with Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) signing on as a series regular and Reign being the first female “big-bad” for an entire season; but the show, instead, has spent past seasons–and much of this season–focusing on irrelevant relationships and trivial matters unbefitting of such a feminist series.

Supergirl has the chance to right its wrongs for its upcoming season, but I unfortunately doubt it will learn from their past.
