Stress-Relief During Quarantine

None of us expected this situation to go so far. This shelter-in-place/quarantine order has thrown us all for a loop, and yet life still goes on. We still have school, work, internships, and other things that take up our time, but it can be hard to focus and remain productive in this chaos. Here are a few tips to relieve stress so you can come out of this crisis as a functional human being:

  1. Take breaks. There is probably a lot required of you right now, but it is unrealistic to hold yourself to the same standards as before. Allow yourself to take time off and recharge before diving back in, and do not berate yourself if you cannot accomplish everything you set out to do.
  2. Find a calming activity. Pick up a craft, play music, read a good book. Do something that does not require much brain power so that you can be refreshed and ready when you do need to think.
  3. Go for a walk. If you have a dog, he or she will certainly thank you for it. So will your body. The fresh air and sun will clear your mind and walking will help you release the pent-up energy from being stuck at home. Plus, you will feel better wearing something other than pajamas for at least an hour.

In this current crisis, staying calm and relaxed is all the more important. Otherwise, everything will be unnecessarily difficult. You have to experiment and find what works for you, but do not give up on discovering some way to relieve stress. Peace of mind will ultimately lead you to success.
