Staying Busy at Home

During these challenging times, it can be a little disappointing that there has been such a quick and drastic change to all of our lives. I was a little down at first because I had to leave school in the middle of the semester, but I really enjoy being at home. Being able to really balance my school work with relaxation has become so much easier, and I feel that this has helped boost my mood amidst all that is happening around us. If you are also looking for ways to keep busy and have fun while at home, I have a few activity ideas to share!

Bake or cook! Baking is one of my favorite hobbies, and it’s so therapeutic too. There are tons of blogs, Pinterest ideas, and Instagram pictures of mouthwatering recipes to try! If you are interested in replicating or inventing any new dishes, now is the perfect time to do so. This past week I’ve spent my mornings making some muffins and macarons!

Keep your body moving. Because we’re at home, there’s a huge temptation to have snacks more often. I’ve been guilty of constant snacking, too.To maintain a balance, I’ve been taking walks in my neighborhood and following exercises through workout apps and YouTube videos. One of my favorite YouTube channels, MadFit, has a variety of workout videos that are quick and fun to do! I really like doing the song workouts since the moves are all synchronized to songs that you most likely know, which makes burning calories so much more enjoyable.

Reevaluate goals and where you are. I’ve been very thankful for this time that I have to take care of myself and think about self-improvement. Whether it’s setting short-term goals to complete or mapping out what I want to do next year or in a couple of years, it’s great to write them all down and sift through your thoughts. In our busy schedules, it’s very easy to overlook things that aren’t work-related or immediately necessary. This time at home can be a truly beneficial reset or moment for reflection.

Right now, it’s extremely important to stay healthy and practice social distancing, and it’s also equally vital that we continue about our daily lives, take care of ourselves, and enjoy this time we have!
