Spooky Season Safety

It’s that time of year where everyone is listening to spooky-vibes playlists, buying truckloads of candy, experimenting with fun makeup and hairstyles, and planning an elaborate Halloween costume. Even though we are in a pandemic, there are still plenty of ways you can enjoy the holiday while staying safe (unfortunately, that means no trick-or-treating). Here are some spooky ideas to guarantee a grand old time!

  1. Movie night. There are tons of great Halloween movies in whatever genre you choose (horror, rom-com, drama, musical, etc.). Fire up the Netflix Party or make it an outdoors event! Stay six feet apart and wear masks, but with a simple projector or even a computer monitor/TV screen, you can have an enjoyable outdoor movie night with all the popcorn and candy you could ever want.
  2. Indulge yourself. Most everyone loves candy, and the lack of trick-or-treating can’t stop you. Buy yourself a bag of your favorite sweets and hunker down for a relaxed night of stuffing your face with delicious candy.
  3. Carve pumpkins. This is another activity you can easily do outside with friends by taking over a backyard and spreading out to carve pumpkins. Listen to some spooky music, watch a movie, drink some apple cider, and have fun while carving some terrifying jack-o-lanterns!
  4. Rock your costume. Dressing up is one of the best parts about Halloween, so whatever socially-distanced/virtual activity you do, show off your costume! Have a costume contest if you want! Wear a different costume every hour! No one can stop you.

It might seem like this pandemic has sucked the fun out of everything, but there are still so many things you can do to enjoy life. As long as you are careful and don’t do anything you aren’t comfortable doing, this Halloween can still be great. Don’t let it slip by without a proper celebration.
